SD DISTRICT MEN’S RETREAT – “MODELING YOUR FAITH”
Men are called to be leaders – this retreat is a great way to build your faith with other men as we tackle the topics of what Christian leadership looks like in the home, with your family, leadership in your community and at church. Plan to strengthen your knowledge with practical steps and ideas. We will also enjoy a fun Saturday afternoon at the shooting range so bring your shotgun, rifle and pistols. About:
The Korkow Ranch Ministries, located near Pierre, SD, is a faith-based organization that uses their ranch to host outdoor activities to help veterans. Ken Korkow, a decorated Vietnam Vet himself, has graciously opened up their ranch to us for free for our Men’s Retreat. He is praying that our men would be greatly impacted and moved in a Godly direction with this retreat.

The Ranch Facilities:
The Ranch Ministries has a main lodge for meetings and kitchen for meals. The sleeping quarters are unique. There is a loft area in the lodge, and a few separate, unique bunk houses where most of the guys will stay.
Saturday Afternoon Shooting Sports Session:
- We’d need to divide into groups and rotate to each station. Plan for a couple of hours.
- Our goal with this is to provide a memorable and fun experience. There will be shooting ranges for rifle, trap shooting, and we can pull out the archery targets. We are trying to line up an assigned person to coordinate and monitor each station with safety rules.
- Note: In preparation for last fall’s event, I had purchased enough 12g shells and clay pigeons for 40 people to shoot about 15 each. Bring your own shotgun and share for those who don’t.
- Rifle and pistol owners, there is a shooting range with steel targets. Bring your own gun or two, and share if you wish, and related ammunition. This is a “bring your own”, so no budget. But I could bring some 22’s and enough extra ammo for others to shoot.
- Archery station has bows and arrows and targets available. No cost.
Location:
Faith Lutheran Church has a couple of vans if we wanted to meet and carpool from the church. I’m sure there will be stragglers, or those that need to come and go, so here is the exact Google map address:

What to Bring:
- Bring your own pillow and sleeping bag and towel to minimize their housekeeping needs.
- Beds: They have about 30 beds. If we have more registrations, we might need them to bring a cot or air mattress.
